Happy Birthday Grandma

Grandma Reimer celebrated her birthday last weekend.  We hosted a backyard BBQ complete with smoked chicken, corn on the cob, fruit and a local Pinot Noir.  Happy Birthday!

Wrestling Elephants II

Every month Amber gets a photo shoot with her elephant.  The elephant used to prop her up.  Now she wrestles it.
Amber is sizing up her opponent

Poor elephant; it doesn't stand a chance...

She has the elephant right where she wants it

 Amber the winner!

Victory Dance!

A Day at the Park

We took Amber to a nearby park last weekend so we could put her in the swings.

She had a really good time.

This is my favorite dress of Amber's.

My Two Girls!

Amber just turned 11 months.  She picked up a phrase that sounds remarkably similar to 'I did it!'  We raise Amber to be very self-confident and celebrate all her accomplishments (like standing, drinking water, pressing a button, standing, holding a toy, standing, etc.).  She makes us laugh.

Father's Day

Father's Day was an amazing day.  Amber got all dressed up and we went to church.  Later we had a little picnic in the backyard before her nap.

After her nap we took a little hike to Council Crest in Beaverton.  Amber slept on my back on the way up and giggled on the way down.

Independence Day

The 4th of July was a busy day for us. We hosted a potluck breakfast for our friends. The camera came out at some point so we got a family photo.
This was a first party where kids were a significant presence.
Later Amber wrestled an elephant....

...and surveyed her backyard.

We put her to bed as normal and turned on a fan in her room.  Much to our surprise she slept the entire night.

I'm Standing!

Generally I try to show more discernment and restraint when I choose pictures for the blog.  This time I couldn't help myself.

A Pirate's Life for Me

Cannon Beach Art

Sandi and I were looking forward to our annual Cannon Beach Plein Air Arts Festival for several months.  We really enjoy walking around the town meeting artists and watching them work.  This time Amber joined us!

After seeing a few artists and galleries we decided to walk to the park for lunch.  We foolishly hoped we could set up the pack'n play for Amber and read while she napped.  Silly mommy and daddy!  We finally gave up and had Amber sleep in her stroller while we walked the town.

In the afternoon the artists hosted an art fair.  We sipped a local Chardonnay while enjoying high quality (and expensive) art.  It is always fun to complement an artist on their work and so impressive that they did all that in one day.

Amber had enough culture for one day so we headed to the water.  It was Amber's first time at the beach and she loved it.  It was fun watching her crawl in the sand and take her wave-chasing in the water.  The water was cold but she really seemed to like it.

Happy 7th Amber!

Happy Birthday Amber The day finally arrived - we've been talking about it since October last year. And what a celebration you crafted!...
