Sandi and I are on a quest to improve the storage space in our house. Having finished our bedroom closet, we turned our attention to the garage.
Ugly!
These doors never shut properly and Sandi even bonked her head a few times on doors that crept open. We originally talked about replacing them but as ugly as they are, they do hold a lot.
Instead we decided to fix them up. The first step was to remove and trim the doors so they actually fit into the door jams.
Then I cut them in half so they would open from the middle.
It took a few coats of paint, but they actually look good (the same color as the exterior doors). I remounted the doors with salvaged hinges (thanks, Grandpa) and included center magnets so they would stay closed.
the utility sink got a make-over too |
Side note, these projects are fun in part because I have now accumulated enough useful materials that actual $ is minimal. I only had to buy six new handles for $1 each. Not a bad investment.
I love this new look! Paint goes a long way...as does hiding stuff behind closed doors. Another good project.
